    Introduction

          A.  Are you ever disappointed with yourself and others?  Examples:

          B.  There are people who get depressed during the Christmas Holidays. In addition
                the year 2020 was unique and produced disappointment in many people.

          C.  Let’s consider the feeling of disappointment in terms of four sources, a major
                consequence and how to deal with disappointment.

     I.  Four sources of disappointment.

         A.  satan.  1 Peter 5:8 (897)

               1.  he taunts us with negative thoughts.  Examples:

         B,  Our areas of weaknesses.  Romans 7:14-25 (834)

         C.  Unrealistic expectations.  Examples:

         D.  Adverse circumstances.  Examples:

   II.  A major consequence of disappointment is a critical attitude.

         A.  Attitude we should not have:  Genesis 3:11-13 (3)

         B.  Attitude we should have:  Ephesians 4:31-32 (865)

  III.  A plan to deal with the feelings of disappointment.

         A.  Understand that disappointment is a part of life. 

         B.  Understand that we can deal with disappointment.  Romans 8:35-39 (835)

         C.  Focus on God and not our disappointment.  Psalm 42:1-6,11 (445); 1 Corinthians
               10:13 (846); 1 Peter 5:7; 1 John 1:9 (900)

         D.  Become involved with God’s church and receive acceptance and encouragement.
               Philippians 2:1-14

Conclusion:  If we desire to have peace in our lives, we must trust God with our problems.
