DO WE WORSHIP AND SERVE GOD WITH THE PROPER ATTITUDE?
Introduction
A. Malachi prophesied about 100 years after the Children of Israel returned from exile
in Babylon, either at the time of Nehemiah or soon after. Approx. 420 B.C.
B. The Israelites in the time of Malachi had no reverence for the Lord. Examples:
C. Let’s focus on three ways in which the people failed to reverence the Lord and make
application.
I. They dishonored the Lord.
A. By offering blemished animals as sacrifices to the Lord. Malachi1:6-10 (697)
B. By offering a half-hearted worship. Vv11-14
C. Do we ever dishonor God? When we fail to properly prepare for worship?
When we go through the motions? When we give God the leftovers?

II. They robbed the Lord. Malachi 3:7-9 (698)
A. By withholding their tithes and offerings.
B. Are we giving God His fair share? Matthew 6:33 (707)
III. They despised God’s service. Malachi 3:13-15
A. They thought it futile to serve the Lord.
B. They questioned the benefits of serving the Lord. Their attitude. Malachi 1:8-10;

Conclusion: Let’s encourage one another to worship and serve God from the heart, and claim
the promises that have been given to us from our Heavenly Father.
