         B.  Let’s give attention to the study of another important feature.

     I.  God’s word teaches that the church should be united.  How since we
          have diverse backgrounds?

          A.  We must first desire to have unity.

                1.  Jesus, the head of the church (Colossians 1:18), taught and prayed for unity
                     among all believers.  John 17:20-23 (796)

          B.  To be united we must have the essentials.

                1.  The apostle Paul has instructed us how to have unity.  Ephesians 4:1-6 (865)

                     a.  We must have the proper attitude.  V2

                     b.  We must have effort.  V3

                     c.  The type of unity commanded requires seven unities.  Vv4-6

                          One:  body (church), Spirit, hope, Lord, faith, baptism, God.

           C.  We must agree to have unity.

                 1.  How can we be united as Jesus prayed?  How can we be united as Paul instructed?
