REASONS WE SHOULDN’T BE AFRAID

Introduction
A. Mary Magdeline, Mary, the mother of James and Joses, and Salome (Mark 16:1)
went to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus after His crucifixion. Read Matthew 28:

B. Questions: Am I afraid of the future, …. of facing adverse circumstances, etc? The
Angel told these women (paraphrasing), Don’t be afraid. Jesus is risen.
C. Read Revelation 1: 12-17 (905)
D. Let’s focus on three reasons for Christians not to be afraid.
I. Because of the concern Jesus has for us.
A. When John saw Jesus dressed in His glorification, note what happened. V17
1. Consider the power of Jesus.
B. As we look into the Gospels, we see the concern of Jesus for people in need-lonely,
tired, sick depressed, etc.
C. Poem: “The Master’s Hand”
D. Christians don’t need to be afraid because the great power of Jesus is expressed in
the concern of Jesus.
II. Because life comes from the death of Jesus. Rev. 1:18 (905)
A. Jesus said, “I am He who lives” He has experienced life.
B. Jesus said that He “was dead” He has experienced physical death. Romans 5:8 (832);

C Jesus said, “And behold, I am alive for evermore.” He was resurrected.

D. We shouldn’t be afraid because out of the death of Jesus comes eternal life for us.

III. Because Jesus has the keys of Hades and death.
