     I.  When Adam and Eve sinned, the death penalty was placed on humans.
          Genesis 2:16-17 (2); Genesis 3:1-6,22-24.

          A.  They died spiritually. Gen. 3:24

          B.  Adam and Eve died physically.  Gen. 5:5

          C.  Every human who lived after them would die spiritually (Romans 3:23,
                P831: 6:23a) physically. Hebrews 9:27 (888); Romans 5:12-14 (832)

II.  Because of the death penalty on humans, God required a sacrifice but why blood?  Gen.
           9:4-5 (6); Leviticus 17:10-14 (97)

           A.  Blood represents life.  Gen. 9:4; Leviticus 17:11,14
