The Parable of the talents
Matthew 25:14-30 (725-726); Alson Luke 19:11-27
Introduction
A. As Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives and talked with Peter, Andrew, James
and John, He was asked, “And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of
the end of the age?” Matthew 24:3b
B. In Matthew 25 Jesus gave three parables in response. We’ll focus on the
Parable of the Talents. Matthew 25:14-30
II. The Parable of the Talents.
A. Terms:
Kingdom of heaven: rule of God
Man travelling: Jesus
Far country: heaven
Servants: disciples
Talent: represents what God has given us such as money, possessions,
abilities, opportunities etc.
Traded: People us what God has given them.
The Lord came: Jesus
Settled account: accountability
Well done: passed evaluation
The joy of your Lord: eternal life
Wicked and lazy servant: Those who failed
Outer darkness: the lake of fire
