FAITH IN GOD
1 Kings 17:8-22 (292)
Introduction
A. Our message is based on the prophet Elijah’s meeting with a poor
widow.
B. Ahab was the king and because of his evil and idolatry, God had sent a
drought. 1 Kings 16:30,32-33.
C. During this drought Elijah met and talked with a poor widow who
were affected by the famine as everyone. 1 Kings 17:8-22 (292)
D. Let’s consider two important lessons.
I. God’s ways are sometimes beyond our understanding.
A. God had planned for Elijah to be fed by this poor widow. v9
1. The widow’s response to Elijah’s request wasn’t based on
understanding, but a degree of faith. vv12,14,15
2. The prophet Elijah’s request was based on faith. vv9,14
3. Both depended on faith.
B. We also must depend on faith. Romans 10:16-21 (836). Emphasis
on v17.
1. Questions: Do we believe ___________________________ ?
2. Can we explain it?
II. When we accept God’s word by faith and obedience, God takes care of
the results. 1 Kings 17:9,2-5 (292)
A. Example: Matthew 28:18-20 (730)
v18: Jesus has all authority. V19 baptizing them in the name of the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Baptism is not a work as some
claim. Colossians 2:11-14 (870) GOD performs the
operation.
Closing: God instructs us and we must respond based on our faith. Hebrews
11:6-7 (888)
