SPIRITUAL ADULTERY

Introduction
A. Spiritual adultery means idolatry and apostasy from the worship of
God according to Unger’s Bible Dictionary.
1. Results from the kind of marriage relationship between Jehovah
and Israel.

I. The conditions that lead to spiritual adultery.
A. Having no fear or respect for God. Jeremiah 3:8 (558)
1. Because of this attitude, Northern Israel (722 by Assyrians) and
Judah (586 approx by the Babylonians) were taken into captivity.
B. Being desensitized to sin. Jeremiah 3:9-10. Casual
harlotry.

B. Having no or little interest in worshipping God.
C. Having little desire to pray.
D. Giving more attention to the pleasures of the world.
E. Refusing to let go of a ‘pet’ sin.
III. The results of spiritual adultery.

B. The power of the local church is weakened in the community. Rev. 2:
