I. “Blessed are the pure in heart:”
A. Let’s define the word “heart.”
1. The control center of who we are. Our intellect and emotions. The inner
self that expresses itself in every aspect of life. Matthew 12:33-35 (713); Proverbs

B. The issue is the quality of the heart.
1. The heart is to be pure: a) clean or free from contaminated substance. b) the heart
that operates with singleness of commitment to God. James 4:8 (893)
2. The pure in heart are sincere, honest, without hypocrisy and have a singleness of
commitment to God.
C. How do we become pure in heart?
1. Have the attitudes of the first 5 beatitudes.
2. Be reconciled to God and have His righteousness through Christ. 2 Corinthians
5:20-21 (854); Romans 1:16-17 (830); Galatians 3:26-27 (861)
3. Co-operate with the Holy Spirit who encourages and helps us. Philippians 2:
12-13 (868)
a. We have a responsibility. V12. Guard our thought and attitudes. 2
Corinthians 10:5 857); Colossians 3:1-3 871). Strive to be pure in practice.

b. The Holy Spirit encourages and helps in sanctification. 1 Thess. 4:1-8 (873)
II. “For they shall see God.” (Tow senses)
A. Those in the kingdom of Christ have a relationship with God through Christ.
